Professor Klaus Dodds is Executive Dean for the School of Life Sciences and Environment at Royal Holloway, and was previously the Director of Research and Knowledge Exchange.

His research areas include geopolitics and security, and the international governance of the Antarctic and the Arctic. He is a recipient of the Philip Leverhulme Prize for his achievements in the fields of geopolitics and human geography.

Klaus is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, a Trustee of the Royal Geographical Society and Regional Studies Association and also a Hon Fellow of British Antarctic Survey.

He has worked for the UK Parliament as specialist adviser to a House of Lords Select Committee on the Arctic and the House of Commons Environment Audit Committee.

Klaus has written a monthly geopolitics column for Geographical Magazine for many years, gives frequent talks on border issues, is an expert in the geopolitics of international terrorism, and makes expert appearances on TV and radio.

Klaus Dodds is a prolific author and editor with notable books including

Ice: Nature and Culture; The World is Not Enough, Scramble for the Poles?; The Contemporary Geopolitics of the Arctic and Antarctic; Geopolitics: A Very Short Introduction; and with Mark Nuttall, The Arctic: What Everyone Needs to Know.

His latest book in 2022 is Border Wars.
