Managing Director and Co-Founder of the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF) which provides conferences and education for the world's central bankers.

Previously, David worked for City merchant bank Robert Fleming, corporate finance boutique, Hawkpoint and German management consultancy, Droege.

Between 1978 and 1995, he worked for the Financial Times in London, France and Germany, including a spell as European Editor.

David is a Board Member of Henderson Eurotrust, the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany and German-British Forum.

He was made Commander of the British Empire in 2000 and was awarded the German Order of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz) in 2003.

He is a frequent media commentator in Europe and the US.

Additionally, he has published several books that have contributed to academic debates, such as on Germany and Europe, the creation of the euro and the euro-zone crisis.

David has been a Visiting Professor of the Department of Politics at Sheffield since 2013.

He also inspired the establishment of the Keele World Affairs Advisory Panel of which he is a Hon Member.
